Turner
Dorian began her speaking career in high school as a
semi-finalist in the Martin Luther King 'I have a Dream' speech
contest and the 'Patchwork Poetry' contest.
Since then, she has given lectures at the Spelman College to
students studying abroad and to groups in Buenos Aires and
Argentina about culture, politics and international education. She
has also presented at the U.S. Embassy in Brazil.
Her experience and background as a Latin Americanist, as an
educator and as a diplomat has led her to over 30 countries as a
lecturer, workshop facilitator, and teacher, including Egypt,
Morocco, Argentina, Brazil, Israel, Australia, France, Spain and
Uruguay.
Dorian has worked for the US Department of State, the US Agency
for International Development and New York University, with pivotal
roles in the non-profit, governmental, entertainment and business
sectors. She has a Master of Arts degree in Latin American and
Caribbean Studies (politics concentration) and a Bachelor of Arts
degree in English from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
